Roots and Rise in Brazil

Empowering High School Students Through Financial Education and Entrepreneurship

Our Mission

In Brazil, Roots and Rise operates through Entrepreneurship on the Vein, an educational initiative founded in Rio de Janeiro and expanded to São Paulo. Our mission is to make financial literacy and entrepreneurship education more accessible, particularly to public high school students in underserved communities.

Through interactive lessons and practical activities, we introduce students to essential financial and business concepts, empowering them to make informed economic decisions, develop entrepreneurial skills, and recognise new opportunities for their futures.

Building Financial Foundations

Fundamentals

Our workshops begin by introducing the fundamentals of economics and personal finance, helping participants understand how money works and how to manage it responsibly.

Students explore essential concepts such as budgeting, saving, credit, debt, and financial planning, alongside economic principles including scarcity and opportunity cost. Through real-world examples and interactive exercises, we encourage participants to apply their knowledge to everyday financial decisions.

Our goal is to demonstrate how financial education can become a powerful tool for independence and long-term economic opportunity.

From Ideas to Business

Empowerment

Beyond financial literacy, our program encourages students to explore entrepreneurship as a pathway to economic empowerment. Through our eight-lesson curriculum, students learn how to identify business opportunities, develop innovative ideas, understand costs and revenue, and create marketing strategies. They also explore the fundamentals of business operations and how entrepreneurs transform ideas into viable ventures. The program concludes with a final business pitch, allowing participants to present their ideas and put their newly acquired knowledge into practice.

In our market activity, participants design and sell paper airplanes, experimenting with pricing, costs, and profit. They also explore the fundamentals of marketing by identifying their target audiences, creating handmade promotional posters, and producing short videos to advertise their proposed products. These activities encourage creativity, communication, and confidence while helping participants understand how to present and promote their ideas.

Growing Our Impact

Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo

Beginning in Rio de Janeiro, Entrepreneurship on the Vein was founded on the belief that financial knowledge and entrepreneurial opportunities should be accessible to everyone, regardless of socioeconomic background. As our initiative develops across Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, we aim to reach more communities, expand our educational programs, and encourage participants to become more confident and financially independent.

Our long-term vision is to equip students with the knowledge, creativity, and confidence to take control of their financial futures and turn their entrepreneurial ambitions into reality.
